Parton Poplar Bark Siding

Bark Siding Harvest Season Has Arrived SFI Certified!

06/02/2009

The 90-day season of poplar bark siding harvesting has arrived for Parton Lumber. Our loggers are out in the forests procuring poplar bark sheets from choice trees they  come across. Of course, this is the first season that our premium poplar bark shingles will be fully SFI certified (Sustainable Forestry Initiative, www.sfiprogram.org) since we no longer take bark sheets from unknown vendors. The problem with buying from unknown sources is that sometimes bark procurers strip the trees of their bark while still standing. Unfortunately this is called "ringing" the tree, and the tree immediately dies while standing. And it is practically impossible to determine who might have done it. This procurement practice is not endorsed by Parton Bark Siding, and as a matter-of-fact, we abhor this activity.

Unwittingly or otherwise, some bark manufacturers may possibly accept poplar bark sheets for processing from harvesters whose procurement locations and methods are unknown. Rather than buy in the blind, Parton Bark Siding brings bark siding sheets from our SFI certified logs.  We guarantee tree pillage does not happen with us. Our bark siding is fully SFI certified from the cutting of the tree to its arrival at the lumber yard, and no vandalism of the forest will happen on our watch. Bark Siding by Parton Lumber remains of the utmost quality, and our harvesting practices remain superb and completely eco-friendly.
